Chunk

This is Chunk, named in honor of Chelsea Handler's dog. He's a foster dog from the SPCA. I'm taking care of him for a few weeks til his skin infection clears up.He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I've never had a more devoted pup. Learn how to become a foster parent.

How'd it get to be summer?

Calle Ocho/Viernes Culturales

Sailors get silly.

Humane Society of Greater Miami puppies came to campus to help relieve exam stress. 3 got adopted.

Win/win situation: Student-owned Wayfarer World got a big crowd to hawk its $10 customizable sunglasses to and Humane Society got 20% of the proceeds. Groovy.

No false idols here

There are four people I idolize: Jane Goodall, Greg Mortensen, Julia Chaplin, and Chelsea Handler. I saw Greg Mortensen (author of Three Cups of Tea and living proof that one person can make a difference) speak last year, and this weekend I sacrificed the majority of Ultra's Friday lineup (including Tiesto and David Guetta) in order to go to Chelsea's book signing at Books & Books and her stand-up show at The Fillmore. If you can, go see her show before you read the latest book; she recycles a lot of material.  It doesn't make her any less hilarious...you just lose some of the element of surprise.
Two down, two to go. Jane Goodall should probably be next target- she isn't exactly young.

(Right) Still in my Ultra getup at Chelsea's show at the Fillmore.

Ultra 2010

Dedication
Nicolette has a show on Thursday afternoons on WVUM 90.5

American Apparel's sales must quadruple in the days leading up to Ultra

Armin Van Buuren- Check
Swedish House Mafia - Check
Deadmau5 - Check
WIL.I.AM was surprisingly good too.
Sacrificed seeing Tiesto and David Guetta to go see Chelsea Handler at The Fillmore.

Next year Ultra is going to last three days. I barely survived two!

Otis, my man!

For those who have Animal House listed in their 'favorite movies' section on Facebook...
Otis Day and the Knights will be throwin' down at the Magic City Casino this Sunday, March 7th. Perhaps you've heard of a little song called "Shout!"? Ya, those guys. Concert goers that wear togas are promoted to prime seating. Seriously, who wouldn't want to wear a toga and reenact a classic scene from one of the most iconic movies in all of collegedom?

One of my best friends visited me this weekend.

H&M crop jacket. black Target maxi dress. black gold leather bracelets from Capri, Italy
Friday we went to Monty's down by the marina in Coconut Grove.

Saturday I took her to South Beach. We had lunch at D'vine Hookah Lounge on Lincoln Road and she found a great paisley maxi dress at Alvin's Island on the corner of Lincoln and Collins. Once you get past all the touristy t-shirts, they actually have some really cute dresses towards the back left corner of the store.

Saturday night, we initially tried to go see Amanda Blank at the Electric Pickle down in the Design District, but it was a $10 cover and we got kind of intimated by the hard core looking people walking ahead of us... So we just went to the Crazy Pianos located within Cocowalk. Crazy Pianos is always fun, but I stumped the cover band with my request for Rockin' the Suburbs by Ben Folds. I wish I would have requested Every Little Thing She Does is Magic by the Police instead.

Mad Hatters are so IN

I want to have a Mad Hatter Tea Party...
cupcakeaday.com
with treats that follow the theme...
and a kitschy tea set...
and everybody would wear crazy cool hats...

Hermes
possibly even ones that they made!
